Forgiveness, the noun or process of forgiving or being forgiven. In some point in time of our life we have went through a rough time. Whether it be that someone did us wrong and we needed to forgive or we did someone else wrong and we neeeded to be forgiven. Sometimes it hits deeper than others. They become aches and burdens in our life.
The power of forgiveness is truly that, powerful. When we forgive others, it is through our forgiveness that others can forgive us. Unforgiveness is like a prison and the chains of biterness, anger, self pity, and depression will hold you a slave. I'm not one to really hold a grudge, but i have had my fair share of forgiving others. I found myself nursing and holding tight to a reason of not forgiving that I couldn't break free.
The picture of forgiveness and love will always trace back to Jesus on the cross. In return jesus tells us to forgive. Colossians 3:13 says, bearing with one another, and forgiving one another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. Peter asked Jesus how often shall i forgive my brothers that sin against me? Jesus answered that we must forgive seventy times seven. This number symbolizes boundlessness, so shall our forgiveness be.
When we forgive we are giving glory to God. We are saying no matter the circumstance, no matter what this person did, my God is greater. Forgiveness is one of the greatest tools that we have, but we should also know that it carries duty with it. I read something that said, in the scriptures Gods forgiveness is often associated with the word grace, which refers to undeserved favor that we receive. Grace is used closely with the word gift. So, if we understand the real meaning of Gods forgiveness it is an undeserved gift.
Forgiveness can be the hardest thing to challenge your faith. If we look into our life and see that we can’t seem to have faith on something, we should reevaluate our life. Normally its because we have unforgivess blocking it. Your faith will move these mountains, but it requires your forgivesnes. These two aren't just vital in our spiritual walk with God, but they are inseparable partners. Let's forgive today, because nothing should come between us and our Lord.
