Worship, the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for a deity. We tend to think worship is a slow song we like to hear at church, or the amount you give to offering. Worship is not giving your time. These actions may be necessary and they may be expressions of worship, but they don’t define it. It is a priority and it is a lifestyle.
True worship is in the heart, it is where we prioritize where God fits in our life, and who God is to us. It is when you submit your life to this amazing God, and your lifestyle begins to represent holiness. We don’t need to negotiate our life, he is God and he deserves our truest worship. Would we still worship God if we didn’t experience his presence and miracles, would he be worthy of our worship? Does our worship depend on the amount of blessings we receive? Sometimes we only worship God based on what we receive or what he can do for us.
God being the merciful savior he is, he chooses to still respond through our worship, but he will respond by making your heart more like his. What we worship dictates what and who is our God, and what or who we run to in time of trouble is our God. Our worship starts as soon as we wake up in the mornings to the very second our eyes close to sleep. Worship is spiritual intimacy and it separates us from those who worship other gods.
It is our duty to worship the one true living God in spirit and in truth. The Lord is holy, he is mighty, and deserves our very best. How we worship describes how big and powerful we think our God is. In John chapter four verses twenty-three and twenty-four states, But the hour cometh and now is , when the true worshippers shall worship them father in spirit and in truth: for the father seeketh such to worship him. God is a spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
As worship leaders we have this task to bring the audience into a spirit of worship, but we cannot bring anyone to a place we have never been ourself. If we don’t make this true worship our lifestyle our music and our songs will be nothing more but noise to God. We can’t take the lead we have to harmonize with the voice of the Lord. Amos chapter five verse twenty-three, take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols. We have to make sure that this worship brings glory to our God and not to us.
Take time today and give God your all. Wake up and worship him, go to bed worshipping him, we shouldn’t have to schedule God in our time, he is the schedule.
