Which Road do I Take

Do you ever feel you’ve hit a fork in the road, or like you have made no progress? Well, the progress you thought you’d be making. Are you being pulled by different directions, maybe it’s even causing you to think you’re not going the right way? I‘ve felt one foot go one way and the other foot tight to the ground. It seemed as if I was just going through the motions instead of following God’s will and living out my dreams. Wouldn’t it be amazing to just automatically know you’re on the right track, taking the right road, and to have confidence in what you’re doing and to never have to question yourself? I personally would find it amazing to know the end result. Too many times I find myself second-guessing the roads I take. I am so desperate to follow God’s will. So, as I wrestled back and forth with insecurity, being indecisive is my specialty, I run to the word of God. The word is alive it is God breathed. In Proverbs chapter three verses five through six it says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Solomon was telling us that our understanding and trusting our knowledge will always mislead us, but trusting in the Lord will always make the path straight. It teaches us to trust the one whom created the path for us. The Psalmist wrote in psalms 25:5, “Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.” All we have to do is humble ourselves and truly seek after the will he has for us, and he will reveal different things to you and make you confident. We are not alone; his love is never ending, and it’s so faithful. If you‘re unsure about something, make sure your spirit and heart are in the right place. Once you’ve asked trust that God has heard and trust he will lead you and guide you. Once we get sidetracked, it’s so easy for the world to show you all the “good things in life” but that’s not what God has for you. Tate and I lived in Indiana for quite a bit, and thought we would settle down there. We were in the process of buying a house, and we were both getting promotions at our jobs. Everything, literally everything was looking so good for us, but God had another plan. The house down payment started to fall through, and this is when we were really starting to figure out what God wanted for us. We received a call that confirmed what God has been dealing with us about, and that was missions. After, we called the home realtor and told them if the down payment would fall through, we should stop the closing process. At this point we have already paid our earnest money and knew we probably would not get it back. This is when we started to pray, “God, what do you have for us and where do you want us to go?” We received another call which pointed us in the right direction, and it was to go in missions on AIM. We were confident in this and so was our pastor. After the call, we received another call and this time it was our relator. He said under any circumstance we can have this house. On top of that, he said the state would cover our down payment. Let me just tell you, that was a bit overwhelming. That was like everyone’s dream, right? Then the icing on the cake happened, if it couldn’t get any better. We checked the mail, and it was a letter from the state of Indiana for first time home buyers, and they would give us a check for the down payment, closing and moving cost, as a grant we didn’t have to pay back. That is just how the world and Satan works, when we find out what God has for us he will throw every “good thing” in our way to distract us. Yeah, all those things would’ve been so nice. It would’ve started our life out so good and worry free, but what would we have profited? If we have ignored the call and the road God had set before us, there would be no telling what blessings we could have missed. I told you that long story for one reason. No matter the circumstance you’re in good or bad, always pray and fast about your decision, because what if you picked the wrong road?

Pick the high road, so much more will be at the end for you. Side note, we got our earnest Money back!
